FVCC Event Raises Funds for Student Scholarships

The Flathead Valley Community College Foundation raised $45,000 for student scholarships during its recent Festival of Flavors event.

Themed the “Roaring 20s,” the April 6 event drew 100 guests. FVCC’s Culinary Institute of Montana students prepared and served the event’s menu featuring a variety of 1920s-inspired offerings such as prime rib, lobster Newberg, and champagne gelée. Event sponsor Summit Beverage provided wine pairings.

“We are grateful to everyone who joined us for our Roaring 20s event and showed their support for our students,” said FVCC Chief Development Officer Tagen Vine.

Vine and FVCC President Jane Karas emceed the evening and auctioned off some special local experience packages like dinner for 10 guests at Purple Mountain Lavender in Lakeside and four tickets to the Glacier Range Riders baseball opening day game.

The event’s music featured Nicole Sanford, head of the FVCC music department, and Natilee Radosevich, FVCC alumna and ticketing coordinator at the Wachholz College Center at FVCC. Entertainment was compliments of the FVCC theater students from this spring’s performance of “Anything Goes” who performed two songs from the musical.

“Our community continues to demonstrate their support for our students in need. Through events like this, it is inspiring to see that people truly believe in helping FVCC students achieve their dreams,” Vine added.

The FVCC Foundation’s next Festival of Flavors event is June 26 at The Nest on Swan River in Bigfork. Tickets go on sale May 15 at 8 a.m. online at fvcc.edu/foundation.

All proceeds from FVCC Festival of Flavors events support student scholarships at the college. Nearly 80% of degree-seeking students at FVCC receive financial aid, and the FVCC Foundation awards over $1 million in scholarships each year.
