Tutoring Centers & Labs

FVCC Student Support Center provides free learning labs designed to help reach your academic goals. Simply drop in or make an appointment with the tutoring lab instructors.

The FVCC Math & Science Tutoring Center, located in LRC 148 and LRC 134, is available to all students for free assistance in math and science coursework. You can connect with us online through the following link: https://meet.google.com/fnc-kysu-nff.

Tutors are available on a drop-in basis for the following purposes:

  • One-on-one tutoring in math and science concepts, problems and homework assistance
  • Computer access to online homework assignments
  • Individual or group study with technology tools and support available
  • Exam preparation and review for semester assessments and finals
  • Assistance with TI graphing calculators
  • GPA Calculator

The FVCC Writing Lab, located in the Broussard Library & Learning Commons, Room BL 213, is available to all students for free assistance in writing by Jim Soular, writing instructional specialist and English teacher.

In-person or Zoom sessions available.

2023 Spring Semester Hours

Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Writing Lab offers the following:

  • Tutoring in English skills like grammar/punctuation
  • Tutoring on research papers and essays in all disciplines
  • Assistance with MLA, APA, Chicago, and other writing formats
  • Assistance with Microsoft and Google word processing and presentations
  • Reference books like dictionaries, thesauri, English handbooks
  • Access student portal, Eagle Online and Eagle Mail
  • Assistance with library databases like ProQuest, Gale, SIRS Researcher
  • Assistance with résumés, cover letters, scholarship letters, transfer letters and essays
  • 8 computers and 2 printers available for student use

Digital copies of papers for writing tutor review are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please submit essays (or other writing needs, like cover letters or résumés) via email in MS Word document or Google Doc format. Documents in Apple Pages or PDF format cannot be accepted.

When you request assistance, include the following:

  • The date by which the paper must be returned to you
  • The assignment description and rubric, if available
  • The format your instructor requires (for example, APA)

Please allow for a turnaround time of 48-72 hours.
