Flathead Valley Community College hosts International Guitar Night

By Kenzie Valenteen

KALISPELL, Mont. — Flathead Valley Community College hosted elite musicians as part of a touring guitar festival.

International Guitar Night brings world-class guitarists from across the globe together on one stage, blending cultures, traditions and styles.

This year’s lineup features guitarists from Brazil, Russia, Vietnam and Hawaii, including the festival’s first ukulele maestro from Hawaii.

For the musicians, blending styles like flamenco, fingerstyle, classical guitar and ukulele is a fascinating challenge.

Visiting Montana for the first time, the musicians shared their thoughts and impressions.

“I saw so many mountains, and it’s just a beautiful landscape. I was so impressed. I wish we had more time to go around and visit nature,” said Lucas Imbiriba, Brazilian flamenco guitarist.

The 26th anniversary IGN North American tour continues through March.
