How do I prepare for my advising meeting?

  • Use the FVCC Catalog to find your:

    • AAS/CTS/CAS curriculum requirements (see All Programs of Study)

    • Transfer Degree requirements (see FVCC Transfer AA and AS Degrees)

    • General Education Course list

    • Transfer Articulation Agreements

  • Log in to the Student Portal to generate a Degree Audit. Select Course Management > Degree Audit Options. The report will show which classes you have left to take. If you are applying to a health-science program, find pre-requisite requirements in the FVCC Catalog.

  • Use the Course Schedule to plan the list of classes that work for you for the coming semester.

  • Contact your Academic Advisor when registration opens to schedule time to discuss your ideas for the coming semester. Make sure to schedule a time before the current semester ends, as many faculty out of the office over summer and winter break. They can lift the advising hold on your account so you can register for classes.

  • Come with any questions you have for your advisor about your major, future degrees and careers.
