Obtaining a Library Card

Students, Faculty, & Staff

Use your FVCC student or staff ID card as your library card. If you do not have a student or staff ID you can obtain a library card at the Circulation desk. This card must be present each time you check out materials.

Community Users

Obtain a free library card by providing the following: 1) valid Montana ID showing proof of Flathead or Lincoln County residency and current mailing address (utility bill can be substituted if necessary) and 2) secondary contact person’s mailing address and phone number. Please note the secondary contact cannot live at the same address or share the same number as the applicant.

Loan Period

Books check out for 28 days; DVD’s and video cassettes check out for 14 days. Materials requested from other libraries have special due dates assigned by the lending library which are noted on the item. Extensions may be requested via phone, email, in-person, or online chat, as available.

Fines

The FVCC Library will assess fines for overdue library materials in an effort to achieve the timely return of loaned items to the collection. The fines will be assessed as follows: books and DVDs are $0.10 per day accumulating to a maximum of $10.00 per item.

  • The borrower is responsible for any lost or damaged item(s). There will be a replacement cost of the item(s) plus a processing fee of $5.00 charged to the account.
  • For students, the library will notify the business office of the fine and flag the student’s record. Grades and transcripts will be held until the fines are paid and the account restored.
  • For community users, outstanding balances not settled directly with the library will be submitted to a local collection agency for recovery, along with service fees from the agency.
