The Honors Program at Flathead Valley Community College provides an opportunity for highly motivated students to experience academically rigorous cross-disciplinary honors courses. The seminar style classes present students a more extensive perspective on topics by incorporating two or more disciplines.

The Honors Program provides academic preparation and curriculum planning to help students succeed in transferring to programs to complete four-year degrees.  The program is designed to provide students with a seamless transition to either the Davidson Honors College at The University of Montana or the University Honors College at Montana State University.  Class sizes are limited to 20 students creating a unique learning community enriched in a specially designed classroom environment.

Applications for each fall semester are accepted beginning in April of each year.  Applications submitted no later than May 1 will receive first priority.  After May 1, The Honors Program will continue to accept applications until the program is full.

Applications for the spring semester are accepted until November 15 each year if there are openings that occur in the program and will continue to be accepted until the program is filled.  Students are encouraged to submit applications early in the process.

The Honors Program Benefits

Honors Courses

Honors courses are a combination of any two of the traditional academic disciplines – humanities; social science; math; science; global; and fine arts – and are taught by a team of two instructors, providing each student a unique cross-disciplinary experience.

Honors courses are four credits each and are offered in the fall and spring semesters.  Students can choose to apply these credits toward the appropriate category of general education courses required for graduation.  Completion of three honors courses results in honors designation and recognition at graduation.
