Geospatial Technology
  • Certificate

Set yourself apart from other job applicants by obtaining in-demand knowledge and skills in the rapidly evolving geospatial technology industry.

Geospatial technology unlocks the spatial context of data. Employees in a variety of disciplines are increasingly required to have the skills and knowledge necessary to investigate spatial relationships across multiple datasets. FVCC’s Certificate in Geospatial Technology prepares students to explore these relationships as they apply to natural resources, surveying, criminal justice, homeland security, emergency management, engineering, planning and other fields. Students in FVCC’s Geospatial Technology program gain practical, hands-on experience using GIS software, Global Positioning System (GPS) mapping, remote sensing, and unmanned aerial mapping systems.

Commitment:

This certificate can be obtained in two semesters.

Opportunities:

  • This program is designed to develop skillsets across a wide variety of disciplines. Knowledge of geospatial technology compliments many majors at FVCC.
  • Public and private sector jobs are increasingly requiring the use of geospatial technology. Professionals with degrees earned prior to the year 2000 can benefit from acquiring current knowledge and skills in this widespread field.
  • Graduates may choose to continue their education in geospatial technology by transferring to the University of Montana or Montana State University.

“FVCC’s Geospatial Technology certificate program is the only one of its kind in Montana. Our classes provide students with a strong foundation in this booming field. Contact me at 756.3898 or teichner@fvcc.edu for more information.” -Tim Eichner, Associate Professor, Surveying/Natural Resources
