World-class Guitarists to Present Free Workshop at FVCC
Flathead Valley Community College will welcome faculty Phil Goldenberg, “King” Solomon Hicks and Leandro Pellegrino from the Crown Guitar Workshop & Festival onto campus for a free guitar workshop and performance they will present for the community August 27. The workshop will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. followed by a free performance by Goldenberg, Hicks and Pellegrino from 3 to 4 p.m.
Participants of all ages and skill levels as well as all music lovers are welcome to attend. Participants can bring their own guitars if they wish to play during the workshop, but hands-on participation is not required.
Goldenberg is a graduate student at Cleveland Institute of Music and winner of the 2015 James Stroud Classical Guitar Competition. He has been a featured artist at the Bethlehem Guitar Festival, the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society and the Woodbury Fall Arts Festival.
Hicks is a featured guitarist at New York City’s famed Cotton Club and winner of a 2014 Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation scholarship through the New York’s National Jazz Museum in Harlem. A guitar prodigy and eclectic musician, Hicks excels at a number of styles ranging from jazz, blues, classical, gospel, R&B, funk and classic rock.
Pellegrino is a 22-year-old jazz guitarist from São Paulo, Brazil, and winner of the 2013 Montreux Jazz Festival World Competition. He is the recipient of this year’s Wes Montgomery-Lee Ritenour Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation Scholarship and is quickly becoming recognized as one of today’s rising young jazz guitarists.
The event will be held in the large community room in the college’s Arts & Technology building. Registration is not required to attend the workshop at FVCC.
