Spring 2014 Whitefish Credit Union Community Pride Scholarship Recipients Announced

Five Flathead Valley Community College students have been named spring 2014 recipients of the Community Pride Scholarship sponsored by Whitefish Credit Union.  The following students will receive scholarships totaling $1,500 for the spring 2014 semester at FVCC.

From Coram:  Jon Crandall, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in practical nursing with plans to become a nurse practitioner;

From Kalispell:  Jessica Blanc, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree in substance abuse counseling with plans to become a licensed addiction counselor; Rocky Davis, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in welding and inspection technology; and Danielle Ruonavaara, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree with plans to become a nurse;

From Whitefish:  Ryan Schwegel, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in welding and inspection technology.

This is the nineteenth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties.  Throughout this successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $89,245 in scholarships to 266 students enrolled at FVCC.

Community Pride Scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from  non-family members such as teachers, counselors or employers.  The amount of each individual scholarship award varies.  Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs also are considered.
