Members of the Moradokmai Theatre Community will give a free dance and musical performance at Flathead Valley Community College on September 15 at 7 p.m.

FVCC’s Theatre Department will host a performance by the Moradokmai Theatre Community and Homeschool from Patumthani, Thailand on September 15. Free and open to the public, the performance will begin at 7 p.m. in the campus theatre located inside the Arts and Technology Building.

Students from the Moradokmai Theatre Community and Homeschool will perform “Patajara Theree,” a dance and musical drama based upon the life of a female monk.

The performance will be directed by Kruchang Janaprakal Chandruang, a well-known Thai dramatist and actor who founded the Moradokmai Theatre Community and Homeschool. Kruchang, an alumnus of FVCC, earned a master’s degree from the University of Montana School of Theatre and Dance in 1979 before returning to Thailand to commence his career in performing and teaching.

Kruchang and his students spend several months every year touring throughout the United States. Although they do not charge admission fees for their performances, the group accepts donations to help cover the costs of touring.

For more information about the performance, contact FVCC Associate Professor of Theatre Rich Haptonstall at rhaptonstall@fvcc.edu or 756-3962.
