Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Community Celebration to be Held at FVCC

Community members are invited to attend the fifth annual Flathead Valley Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Community Celebration to be held at Flathead Valley Community College January 17 at 7 p.m.  Free and open to the public, the event will feature local speakers, musical performance, and a video presentation.

Rabbi Allen Secher will deliver the keynote address, sharing his story of traveling to the South in the early 1960s to participate in the Freedom Rides and his brief personal encounter with Dr. King.  Attendees will enjoy musical performances by blues guitarist Andre Floyd as well as the Crown of the Continent Choir, a 50-member multi-faith community choir under the direction of Kevin Allen-Schmid.  The event also will feature a video presentation remembering Dr. King and readings from excerpts of Dr. King’s sermons and speeches.
