Kalispell Manufacturers Alliance Announces Scholarship For FVCC Manufacturing Students
KALISPELL, Mont. (Sept. 28, 2015) – The first-ever Kalispell Manufacturers Alliance Scholarship at Flathead Valley Community College was announced at the kickoff luncheon for Flathead MFG Day and Series of Events, presented by the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce.
Over 200 leading manufacturers, employers and community members gathered for lunch to discuss and learn about the opportunities and challenges facing modern manufacturing companies in the Flathead Valley.
Also in attendance were two tables of students and staff from Flathead Valley Community College’s Center for Manufacturing Advancement.
The Kalispell Manufacturers Alliance was formed by the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce as an effort to inform policymakers, legislators, the public and media about manufacturing’s vital leadership role in innovation, job creation and economic vitality. In addition to striving to connect local manufacturers with the workforce they need, the Manufacturers Alliance also aims to inspire the next generation to pursue manufacturing as a career opportunity.
The scholarship was split $1,000 each to Ryan Burrows, a first-year Electronic Technician student, and Jared Kesterson, a second-year student in Machining and Industrial Machine Technology.
Both students were recognized at the luncheon.
“We are grateful for the support from the Kalispell Manufacturers Alliance and the Kalispell Chamber,” said FVCC President Jane Karas. “This scholarship will help our students achieve their educational goals so they can enter good-paying manufacturing jobs and make positive contributions to our local economy.”
The Kalispell Chamber of Commerce and the Kalispell Manufacturers Alliance are excited to provide opportunities to local students with an interest in manufacturing and are looking forward to a bright partnership with FVCC.
