Highlights from FVCC Board of Trustees March 14 Meeting
The Flathead Valley Community College Board of Trustees convened for a meeting March 14.
Six individuals who applied for the vacant Board of Trustees seat previously held by John D. Engebretson delivered brief presentations to the Board and addressed the Trustees’ questions. The Board voted to appoint Shannon Lund of Kalispell to the position.
After undergoing a bid process, the Board voted to contract Johnson Controls to install an updated temperature controls system for the college’s four original buildings on its current campus. The new system will include digital controls and will result in a substantial savings in heating and cooling costs for the college. The system installation will be completed by June 20.
The Board voted to have the college engage in a contract with R. Skelton Architecture for $73,000 to provide all design services, bid documents and construction administration for the college’s new Maintenance/Storage Building.
FVCC President Jane Karas invited the Trustees to meet John Cech, deputy commissioner for two-year and community college education, who will visit FVCC March 16.
The next regularly scheduled board meeting will take place March 21 at 3:45 p.m. For more information regarding specific items included in this report or regarding college activities, contact Tara Roth at 756-3912. For more information on board meetings, contact Monica Settles at 756-3801.
