FVCC To Offer New Opportunity For Grandparent, Grandchildren To Learn Together
This summer, Flathead Valley Community College will debut a new intergenerational program inviting grandparents and their grandchildren to learn together. Geared toward children in grades 4-7 and their grandparents, the interactive classes will take place June 17.
“Side by Side Writing Adventure” will provide a day of fun and collaborative creative writing for grandparents and their grandchildren. Instructed by Kathy Dunnehoff, the class will involve writing a screenplay, playing with poems and word games. At the end of the day, everyone will have stories about their special day together to take home.
Michelle Kaney will bring years of living in Japan to her “Japanese Experience” class. Grandparents and their grandchildren will team up to learn about the nation’s fascinating culture through language, history and art.
“We received multiple requests from our area residents to offer this type of learning experience,” said Leslie Rogers, community education associate director. “This is a unique opportunity for grandparents to team up with their grandchildren to spend a day learning together while creating special memories.”
The classes are designed for one grandparent per grandchild. For more information and to enroll, contact the Continuing Education Center at 406-756-3832 or visit www.fvcc.edu/continuing-education.
