FVCC to Host Seminar on Solar Energy in the Flathead
Flathead Valley Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is hosting a seminar “Solar Energy in the Flathead: Shining a Light on New Opportunities” on November 12. This informative presentation is designed to increase awareness of solar power in the Flathead Valley.
Presenter Ross Holter, Director of Energy and Members Services at Flathead Electric Co-op (FEC), will address where FEC’s power comes from. Participants will learn about heating costs and efficiency programs, solar/net metered systems in the Flathead Valley, FEC’s new Solar Utility Network, the Peak Time Demand Response Program and what is on the horizon for solar energy.
Additionally, FVCC electrical instructor Carol Vincent will give a brief overview of the college’s Electrical Technology Program and what courses FVCC’s offers in regards to solar energy.
Phi Theta Kappa is an honor society for two-year college students. This seminar is part of their Honors in Action program where students focus on a research topic that promotes active and collaborative learning, then develop a project that reaches into the college campus and community.
Free and open to the public, the seminar will be held at 7 p.m. in the large community meeting room inside the Arts and Technology building on the FVCC campus. For additional information, contact the FVCC Service Learning Office at 756-3908 or email Wendy Jeschke at email@example.com.
