FVCC to Host Round Dance Celebration
Flathead Valley Community College’s Multicultural Affairs Office is inviting members of the Flathead Valley community and beyond to participate in a Round Dance Celebration April 22. The event will kick off at 5 p.m. with a potluck dinner and will follow with a presentation at 6 p.m. and the round dance and women’s choice singer stand-up at 6:30 p.m.
The round dance, also known as friendship dance, is a Native American tradition that allows multiple nations and communities to gather and celebrate through song and dance. Instructions will be provided at the event for first time dancers.
The event is free and open to the public and will take place inside the Arts and Technology Building on the FVCC campus. Event participants are asked to supply a dish, beverage or snack to share at the potluck dinner. Time will be provided for individuals to offer gifts to elders, family or community members.
