FVCC Students Earn Honors at Annual Research Conference

logo_180iphoneApproximately 90 Flathead Valley Community College students presented their research projects to the public at the seventh annual spring FVCC Student Research Conference on May 6. Project topics included biology, biotechnology, natural resources, chemistry, physics, history, anatomy/physiology and psychology.

The following students received honors for their posters and oral presentations at the conference:

First Place Poster Session:  Heidi Fleury, “Building Resilience: Expanding Pollinator Habitat in Irrigated and Dryland Agriculture”

Second Place Poster Session: Amber Larsen, “Biodiversity of the Educational Tree Farm in Columbia Falls”

Third Place Poster Session:  Sandra Boettler, “Where Parasites Are People Too”; and Nicholas Bartlett, “Biological Diversity of Lawrence Park”

First Place Oral Presentation:  Kimberley Lantrip, “Lynx in the Lost Trails Wildlife Preserve?  Using DNA Barcoding to Identify Wildlife Species”

Second Place Oral Presentation:  Solange Martin, “Measuring Coral Growth under Changing Ocean Conditions: Will They Survive?”

Third Place Oral Presentation: Christina Eggensperger and Kristine Pye, “Montana High School Polarization Contest”; and Rachel Cloninger, “Retrofitting Hydropower”
