FVCC Student Isaac Neumann Named 2019 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar

Flathead Valley Community College student Isaac Neumann has been named a 2019 New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar. Neumann was selected for the esteemed award based on his academic accomplishments and leadership activities and how he extends his intellectual talents beyond the classroom.

Sponsored by The Coca-Cola Foundation and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, the New Century Workforce Pathway Scholar program supports students at two-year colleges who plan to enter the workforce upon completing a degree or certificate. Neumann is one of 50 students in the nation to receive the award this year. More than 2,000 students from across the country were nominated. Neumann will receive a $1,250 scholarship and recognition at the Association of Community College Trustees’ 2019 Leadership Congress in San Francisco later this year.

A 2017 graduate of Stillwater Christian School where he was named most valuable player three years in a row for the school’s state championship basketball team, Neumann will graduate from FVCC this spring with an Associate of Applied Science in Industrial Machine Technology. He recently purchased property in the Flathead Valley and plans to build a shop and start his own machining business. He currently works for his grandfather’s manufacturing company in Kila.

Neumann is part of the FVCC student team that took first place in the national Phillips Machinist Cutting Edge Parts Competition: Student Edition. Neumann and five other students designed and produced a conceptual foot shifter for a manual automobile transmission under the guidance of their instructors. They won an expense-paid trip to the Haas Automation, Inc. headquarters in Oxnard, Calif. where they will travel later this month to tour the company’s manufacturing facility and connect with professionals in the machining industry.

FVCC offers degrees and certificates in various advanced manufacturing specialties, including Industrial Machine Technology, Electronics Technician, Firearms Technologies, and Industrial Maintenance.
