Flathead Valley Community College students and staff are collecting clothing, food, toys and other items for local people in need this holiday season.
Several student organizations have collaborated to host Weeks of Giving at the college. Student Government is collecting non-perishable food items; Phi Theta Kappa is collecting new and gently used warm coats of all sizes; the Veterans’ Association is collecting new, unwrapped toys; Gay/Straight Alliance is collecting hygiene products; TRIO and Appreciating Individuality, Challenges and Excellence are collecting socks and gloves. Donations can be dropped off in the lobby of Blake Hall through December 15. The items will be donated to One Warm Coat, Toys for Tots and other nonprofit organizations for distribution.
FVCC’s Student Engagement office is collecting gifts for children served by the nonprofit organization CASA for Kids. Beginning November 27, “giving” trees will be located in the lobbies of the Rebecca Chaney Broussard Center for Nursing and Health Science, Blake Hall and the Arts and Technology buildings on campus. To make a donation, remove an ornament from one of the trees and purchase an appropriate gift for the gender and age specified on the ornament. Attach the ornament to the unwrapped gift, and return the gift to the Service Learning office in Blake Hall by December 12.
