FVCC Student Awarded with Civic Engagement Scholarship

Flathead Valley Community College sophomore Angela Boyce was recently honored by Montana Campus Compact for her exemplary service to the community. Boyce and five other students from around the state were selected from a competitive pool of applicants to receive the Civic Engagement Scholarship. The award recognizes students whose exceptional service work makes a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Boyce has served as a hospice volunteer, spending time with patients and providing primary caregiver respite. She has also volunteered as an apprentice doula and midwife, offering services to low-income women.

“I believe the wellbeing of an individual has a strong ripple effect on the community,” said Boyce, whose goal is to become a nurse midwife after completing a master’s degree in nursing.

Montana Campus Compact is a higher education network dedicated to promoting community service, civic engagement and service-learning. Members include Montana’s two-year, four-year, public, private, tribal and community colleges and universities.
