Flathead Valley Community College’s Bookstore and Library are launching a local author series this fall, featuring readings, discussions, book signings, and more. The series opens Thursday, Nov. 15 with a 6:30 p.m. reading in the FVCC Library by Susan Purvis, author of “Go Find.”
Published by Blackstone Publishing, “Go Find” is a memoir about Purvis’ experience training a Labrador retriever to serve with her on search-and-rescue missions in avalanche disaster areas. The book has received accolades from New York Times bestselling authors Kat Martin and Sebastian Junger, among other notable writers. The Nov. 15 event will feature a trivia contest with questions about search dogs. Prizes will be awarded to contest winners.
The author series continues on Tuesday, Dec. 4 with a 6 p.m. reading in the FVCC Library by John Fraley from his latest book, “Rangers, Trappers, and Trailblazers: Early Adventures in Montana’s Bob Marshall Wilderness and Glacier National Park.” Fraley shares true stories about people who earned their livings in the wild mountains and rivers of the Bob and Glacier during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Signed books will be available for purchase at all of the events. The FVCC Bookstore carries “Go Find” and “Rangers, Trappers and Trailblazers” among a variety of books by other local authors. To purchase copies online, visit www.fvccbookstore.com.
