FVCC Launches Business Innovation and Development Certificate
Flathead Valley Community College has launched a new certificate program designed to prepare entrepreneurial thinkers to start their own businesses or obtain entry-level management positions. The 17-credit Business Innovation and Development Certificate introduces participants to business management, accounting, marketing, entrepreneurial thinking and strategies for starting a new business.
The Business Innovation and Development certificate is designed to allow students to complete the program in the evening over the course of one semester. Classes include Principles of Accounting, Business Innovation: Concept to Launch, Small Business Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Quickbooks.
The new five-credit Business Innovation: Concept to Launch class will walk students through the process of identifying viable business opportunities. Students will learn how to use market analysis techniques, prepare professional-grade business plans, pitch to potential funders, as well as open and operate a business on campus for a portion of the semester.
The creation of the Business Innovation and Development certificate program is supported by a U.S. Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training grant to encourage entrepreneurship in Northwest Montana.
