FVCC Foundation Presents Summerfest Event to Support Scholarships
The Foundation at Flathead Valley Community College continues its 2016 Festival of Flavors dinner series with a summer event at Flathead Lake Lodge on July 13. Proceeds will benefit student scholarships and instructional innovation at FVCC.
“Savory Summerfest” will feature the grilling skills of the students and faculty at The Culinary Institute of Montana at FVCC as they prepare an extensive menu highlighting plancha-style grilled fish, local meats and fresh garden vegetables.
Guests will be treated to colossal shrimp, yellow fin tuna, stuffed Alaskan halibut, East Coast Blue Point oysters, butterflied chicken, Farm to Market pork loin churrasco, red-wine braised spareribs, rib-eye a la chimichurri, kasseri cheese, artichoke and fingerling potatoes, Cuban-style yellow corn, asparagus and FVCC Farm fresh greens. Dessert will feature Peach Melba and strawberry shortcakes served with Southern iced tea and coffee.
“Funds raised at these events help make it possible for our local students to reach their educational goals,” said FVCC President Jane Karas. “We are grateful to the individuals, businesses and organizations that support these events each year.”
Last year’s Festival of Flavors events raised $220,000, allowing the FVCC Foundation to award an additional 120 scholarships. “Our research shows that students who receive scholarships complete their education at higher rates than students who do not receive scholarships,” Karas added.
