FVCC Art Department Presents Alumnus Photography Exhibition
Exhibit Opens September 25
The Flathead Valley Community College Art Department will host a photography exhibition featuring works by FVCC graduate Tyler Rasmussen. The exhibit opening will be held September 25 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the FVCC Art Gallery inside the Arts & Technology building on the college’s Kalispell campus.
Rasmussen is a freelancer specializing in film production, web design and still photography. His interest in production began at age 12 when he started accompanying his dad, a career cinematographer, on film jobs whenever possible. In 2012, he followed police on drug busts and interviewed drug addicts as second unit cameraman/assistant on an episode of National Geographic’s “Drugs Inc.” series. His most recent project took him overseas to Turkey where he worked on the production of a documentary on the country’s archaeology.
Rasmussen says of the works to be showcased at the exhibition, “From remote regions of eastern Turkey to the fields flanking the road I drove to school (FVCC) every day, these photos tell the story of where my itchy feet have taken me. While it’s certainly fun to spend summers half way around the world, I find that captivating subject matter has more to do with my state of mind than my location. One of the greatest joys for me is to capture the mundane in a unique way, to create another reality with my photography.“
Free and open to the public, the exhibit will remain open for public viewing through October 23. Photographs will be available for purchase with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the FVCC Art Department.
