FVCC Announces Spring 2015 Whitefish Credit Union Community Pride Scholarship Recipients

 

Five Flathead Valley Community College students have been named spring 2015 recipients of the Community Pride Scholarship sponsored by the Whitefish Credit Union. The students will receive scholarships totaling $1,600 for the spring 2015 semester at FVCC.

 

From Columbia Falls – Cindy Berger, pursuing Associate of Applied Science degrees in health care office management and medical coding;

 

From Hungry Horse – Sara Gomes, pursuing a Business Administration Associate of Applied Science degree;

 

From Kalispell – Karina Ek, pursuing a Physical Therapy Assistant Associate of Applied Science degree; and Kelly Swenson, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree with an emphasis in social work; and

 

From Whitefish – Rebekah Venable, pursuing Associate of Arts and Associate of Science transfer degrees toward her career goal of becoming a nurse.

 

This is the twentieth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties.  Throughout the successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $93,995 in scholarships to 277 FVCC students.

 

Community Pride Scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from a non-family member such as a teacher, counselor or employer. The amount of individual scholarship awards varies. Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs for FVCC students also are considered.
