FVCC Announces Fall 2014 Whitefish Credit Union Community Pride Scholarship Recipients

Six Flathead Valley Community College students have been named fall 2014 recipients of the Community Pride Scholarship sponsored by the Whitefish Credit Union. The students will receive scholarships totaling $2,400 for the fall 2014 semester at FVCC.

From Kalispell – Kat Champion, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree with an emphasis in creative writing; Meghan Danford-Komenda, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree with an emphasis in human services; Amber Gunderson, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in practical nursing; and Miranda Leese, pursuing an Associate of Science transfer degree with an emphasis in biotechnology; and

From Whitefish – Kayleigh Kasper, pursuing coursework toward her career goal of becoming a registered nurse; and Rebekah Venable, pursuing an Associate of Science transfer degree in pre-health.

This is the nineteenth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties.  Throughout the successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $92,395 in scholarships to 273 FVCC students.

Community Pride Scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from a non-family member such as a teacher, counselor or employer. The amount of individual scholarship awards varies. Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs for FVCC students also are considered.
