FVCC and Habitat for Humanity to Hold Build Day

Flathead Valley Community College will team up with Flathead Valley Habitat for Humanity to conduct a Build Day on April 19.  FVCC students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community are invited to participate.

Volunteers will be provided complimentary lunch, t-shirts and transportation to the build site in Columbia Falls.  Transportation will depart from the FVCC campus at 8:30 a.m. and will return at 4 p.m.  Volunteers have the option of meeting at the build site located at 5th St. W and Mitchell Way.  The build day is sponsored by FVCC’s Campus Habitat Chapter led by FVCC student James Potts.

According to Potts, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity does not require construction experience, just a big heart and a willingness to help your neighbor.

“Habitat’s professional building supervisor matches volunteers with tasks they are comfortable performing,” said Potts.  “Build day is a great way to make new friends while helping low-income families obtain stable housing.”

Volunteers are required be at least 15 years of age, and volunteers under the age of 18 will be required to have a minor waiver form signed before they can participate.  Waiver forms can be obtained in advance in the FVCC Service Learning Office in Blake Hall on the college campus.  They also will be available at the job site on the day of the event.

Interested volunteers are asked to RSVP in advance in the Service Learning Office or call by calling Wendy Jeschke at 756-3372.  For more information, contact Call Jesse Mahugh at 257-8800.
