Fall 2013 Whitefish Credit Union Community Pride Scholarship Recipients Announced
Six Flathead Valley Community College students have been named fall 2013 recipients of the Community Pride Scholarship sponsored by Whitefish Credit Union. The following students will receive scholarships totaling $3,000 for the fall 2013 semester at FVCC.
From Bigfork: Brandi Simpson, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in natural resources conservation and management;
From Kalispell: Meghan Danford-Komenda, pursuing an Associate of Arts transfer degree with an emphasis in social services with career plans to become an adoption counselor; Keri Kelly, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in practical nursing with plans to become a registered nurse working in a long-term care facility; and James Nutzman, pursuing a Certificate of Applied Science in the heavy equipment operator program;
From Whitefish: Anna Burdette, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in the physical therapist assistant program with plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in pre-physical therapy and a master’s degree in physical therapy; and Kari Marsenich, pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in the physical therapist assistant program.
This is the eighteenth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln counties. Throughout this successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $88,345 in scholarships to 263 students enrolled at Flathead Valley Community College.
Community Pride Scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from non-family members such as teachers, counselors or employers. The amount of each individual scholarship award varies. Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs also are considered.
