Fall 2011 Whitefish Credit Union Community Pride Scholarship Recipients Announced
Three Flathead Valley Community College students have been named fall 2011 recipients of Community Pride Scholarships sponsored by Whitefish Credit Union. The students will receive scholarships totaling $1,200 for the fall 2011 semester at FVCC.
Heather Ellsworth, of Columbia Falls, is pursuing studies toward a career as a radiologic technologist. Jillian Hamilton, of Kalispell, is pursuing studies toward an Associate of Science transfer degree with plans to become a registered nurse. Ashley Larson, of Kalispell, is pursuing studies toward a career in nursing with plans to specialize in obstetrics.
This is the sixteenth year Community Pride Scholarships have been awarded to permanent residents of Flathead, Lake and Lincoln Counties. Throughout this successful program, Whitefish Credit Union has awarded $76,545 in scholarships to 237 students enrolled at FVCC.
Community Pride scholarship criteria include financial need, potential for academic and career success and letters of recommendation from non-family members. The amount of each scholarship award varies. Funds are intended to support tuition, fees and book expenses, although tutoring and child care costs for FVCC students also are considered.
