Early Bird Registration Deadline Approaching for Small Business Conference

The Montana Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network is holding its fourth annual Invest in Success Montana Small Business Conference on April 24 and 25 at Montana Tech in Butte.  The early bird registration deadline for the conference is March 1.

This conference has been specifically designed to provide small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to enhance their financial, managerial and technical skills while connecting with resource providers and networking with other small businesses from across the state.

Northwest Montana Small Business Development Center Director Chris Parson said the conference is a great resource for local small businesses.

“This is a great opportunity for local businesses to gain information that will help take their businesses to the next level,” said Parson. “The action-packed agenda will provide success strategies as well as valuable tools and resources small business owners may not know they have access to.”

Michael Shuman, director of research at Cutting Edge Capital and Director of Economic Development at the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (BALLE), will present the keynote address at the conference.  Shuman is a current Fellow at the Post Carbon Institute and holds an Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Economics and International Relations from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School.  He has authored and/or edited seven books, including “The Small-Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses are Beating the Global Competition,” “Going Local: Creating Self-Reliant Communities in the Global Age,” and most recently, “Local Dollars, Local Sense: How to Shift Your Money from Wall Street to Main Street and Achieve Real Prosperity.”  Recently, Shuman has led community-based economic development efforts in New York, Maine, Maryland and Colorado, and served as a senior editor for the recently published “Encyclopedia of Community.”
