Big Night 3 to Raise Funds for FVCC Semester in Venice Student Scholarships

The Flathead Valley Community College Art Department will present Big Night 3, an event to raise funds for student scholarships for its sixth annual Semester in Venice program, June 21.

Last year’s event raised enough funds to provide three students with $4,000 La Serenissima Scholarships to help fund their study abroad expenses in Venice this spring.  The scholarships are given to students in need who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in the program.

The evening will include an Italian-inspired feast created by students of The Culinary Institute of Montana at FVCC and instructor Chef Howard Karp, featuring insulate caprese and country parmesan bread; a pasta station featuring  trenette with pesto, beans and potatoes, two-minute calamari Sicilian lifeguard style, spaghetti alla carbonara and malloreddus al pomodoro; a meat carving/fish station featuring skirt steak, whole roasted fish “Palermo style” in Carta Fata and Italian sausage with peppers and onions; side dishes including portabella caps stuffed with cheese and ham, radicchio in padella and soft polenta topped with marinara sauce, shaved parmesan and basil; and dessert featuring strawberry tiramisu semifreddo.  In addition to coffee and tea service, a no host bar with specially selected Italian wines to complement dinner will be available.  The event also will feature an Italian-themed live auction and a short program about FVCC’s Semester in Venice.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. in the Arts and Technology Building on the college’s Kalispell campus.

Tickets are $75 per person, $40 of which is tax deductible.  Guests must be at least 21 years of age unless accompanied by an adult.  Proceeds will benefit the La Serenissima Scholarship program.
