Bare Bait Dance to Perform at FVCC

Missoula’s Newest Dance Collective to Perform Two Free Productions for Community

Montana’s performing arts community has a new company to keep their eye on—Bare Bait Dance.  In residence at Missoula’s Downtown Dance Collective, Bare Bait Dance (BBD) aims to create dance by Montanans, for Montanans.  A foundational goal of the company is to tour throughout the state bringing dance, performances and workshops to smaller Montana communities.  BBD is thrilled to make the Flathead Valley Community College Theatre be its first tour stop to the Flathead Valley.

Under the artistic direction of Joy French, the company will perform “Views from Grandma’s Porch.”  Joining French’s choreographic vision with a score by Missoula sound-designer, Geoff Pepos, the seven-member company mixes modern dance, storytelling, and improvisation to signify a journey through the physical personality of small-town America.  Inspired by her own familial history, French explores the nuances, trends, and culture that define rural communities.

Sponsored by FVCC Theatre and Student Government, the show will be performed September 14 and 15 at 7 p.m. in the FVCC Theatre inside the Arts and Technology Building on the college’s Kalispell campus.  Admission is free, and tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Advance tickets are available at the FVCC Bookstore inside Blake Hall on the college campus and online at starting September 11.  Remaining tickets will be available at the door.
