Applying Early for FVCC Fall Classes Offers Many Perks

New Students Encouraged to Apply for Financial Aid by August 1

The Admissions Office at Flathead Valley Community College is encouraging new students planning to enroll in credit courses this fall to apply early for admission to the college.  Students who apply early will be provided the opportunity to access financial aid, register early for courses and participate in summer intramural activities organized by the college at significantly reduced prices.  The schedule of fall credit courses is available on the college website,

Fall registration for credit courses will open August 13 and will continue through August 23 for new students who have not attended new student orientation.  However, new students who apply early and sign up to attend one of four new student orientations this summer will have priority access to register for courses of their choice.  New students who will depend on financial assistance to help pay for their education will need to be admitted to FVCC and have their financial aid file complete by August 1 in order to receive notification of their awards prior to the start of the semester which will begin August 26.  Approximately 73 percent of FVCC students rely on financial assistance to pay for their college education.

“Our students’ success is our top priority,” said Director, Financial Aid Cindy Kiefer.  “Students who have all their ducks in a row will know which funding options are available to them at the beginning of the semester, which can be critical in how well they perform in their studies.”

For degree-seeking students, a complete admissions file includes a completed application for admission, high school transcripts or diploma and an official copy of college transcripts if applicable, and proof of two measles, mumps and rubella immunizations.  The application may be completed on the college’s website or in the Admissions Office via paper application at no cost..  Degree-seeking students also are required to complete the COMPASS placement test prior to registering for classes.  Non-degree seeking students are subject to different admissions requirements.  For more information, call 756-3846 or 756-3942, or visit
