Our Mission

Flathead Valley Community College promotes excellence in lifelong learning, focused on student success and community needs.

Our History

In the fall of 1979, representatives of business and industry in Lincoln County identified the need for college level course work in supervisory and management skills to fill the needs of the communities. This group partnered with Flathead Valley Community College to bring a thirty credit Supervisory Management certificate program to Libby. This program was launched in 1980 and proved to be so successful that the Libby Area Chamber of Commerce formed the Community College Research Committee to explore expanding additional higher education opportunities. By 1982, the committee had gathered enough data to demonstrate the need and desire for an FVCC “extension center” in Lincoln County. By 1984, FVCC and the Lincoln County Commissioners reached a contractual agreement and Lincoln County Service Region and Lincoln County Campus was created.

Classes were originally held at the high schools in Libby, Troy and Eureka as well as at the Libby School District Lincoln Building. Classes and administration eventually were centrally located at the Lincoln Building and remained there until January 2002 when Lincoln County Campus moved to its current location at 225 Commerce Way in Libby.
