Flathead Valley Community College’s logger sports team outscored five other western colleges and universities to win the Top Team Award at the 2019 Stumpjumper Days competition at FVCC on April 20.
FVCC student Amber Larson was the top ranking female competitor, placing first in the obstacle pole, double buck, pole climb, horizontal speed chop and vertical speed chop competitions. Teammate Haakon Sande was the top ranking male competitor, placing first in the horizontal hardhit chop, single buck and double buck competitions. Larson was named Belle of the Woods, and Sande was named Bull of the Woods.
FVCC students Jon Selhost and Jim Vincent won second and third places respectively in the overall men’s competition. Selhost took first place in the double buck and the vertical speed chop competitions, and Vincent took first place in the Jack & Jill competition with teammate Brianna Stone.
FVCC’s logger sports team will compete at the University of Montana’s Forestry Days at Fort Missoula April 26-27.
