Prospective Students

The decision to attend college is a big one. The move you are about to make is one that will forever change your life and the lives of those around you.

Here are a few common questions we get from students who are considering FVCC…

Why an Associate Degree?
The benefits of an associate degree are endless. In many cases, employers in certain fields prefer hiring employees who have associate degrees under their belts. In fact, 62 percent of those taking the national registered nurses exam in a recent year were graduates of associate degree programs. And 65 percent of new healthcare workers received their training at community colleges.

What if I don’t know the career I want to pursue?
Many students who come to FVCC don’t. The important thing is that we have programs ranging from accounting to art, from biology to sociology, from land surveying to the culinary arts. The great thing about FVCC is that if you don’t know what you want to do in life, you can experiment in any number of academic areas at a fraction of the cost you would be charged at a four-year college or university.  Our career center offers additional career exploration.
