At Flathead Valley Community College, we realize parents often are involved in a student’s decision-making process. We actually prefer it that way, because we think of our community as a family.
Choosing the right college is a big deal. So here are a few of the more common questions from parents whose sons and daughters are considering FVCC…
What can be done with an associate degree?
After earning the associate degree, many graduates accept positions in the professional work force. In fact, 65 percent of new healthcare workers received their training at community colleges. Many other graduates transfer to four-year colleges and universities. FVCC graduates have been accepted at esteemed schools such as Stanford University and have gone on to top graduate schools at such schools as The Johns Hopkins University.
What kind of financial assistance is available?
More than half of FVCC students receive some form of financial assistance. Families have access to nearly 100 merit- and need-based scholarships, as well as a number of grants, loans, and student employment programs.
What support services are in place to help students make the transition to college?
FVCC’s New Student Orientation program is a half-day event that brings newly accepted students together with current students, faculty and staff to familiarize themselves with everything we have to offer. Each student also is assigned an advisor who will assist he or she in developing class schedules, registering for classes, preparing for graduation or transfer and making the most of his or her FVCC experience.
What distinguishes FVCC from other schools?
Our programs are respected by area, state and national business and industry. In fact, for the past eight years more than 95 percent of all FVCC job-seeking graduates have successfully secured employment upon graduating. Our instructors come from some of the finest institutions in the nation. And our setting just 30 minutes from Glacier National Park, the Bob Marshall Wilderness and two of Montana’s best ski and summer resorts offers opportunities most schools can barely imagine.
