Admitted Students

On behalf of everyone at Flathead Valley Community College, congratulations on your acceptance into our family. The step you’re about to take is a huge one, and the impact your experience with us will have on the rest of your life is immeasurable.

Here is some essential information you should familiarize yourself with as you prepare for your first year as an FVCC student…

Orientation
FVCC’s New Student Orientation program is a half-day event that brings newly accepted students together with current students, faculty and staff to familiarize themselves with everything we have to offer. Tours of the facilities are available, and topics covered include student life, student resources and introductions to key administrators.

Placement Tests
If you are a degree-seeking and/or full-time student, or plan to take math or English classes, you must take the ASSET/COMPASS placement test. Advisors use the scores from this test to determine your starting level. Scores are not kept on your permanent transcript and do not affect future grades.

Advising
Full-time or degree-seeking students will be assigned an advisor after applying for admission. Your advisor will assist you in developing class schedules, registering for classes, preparing for graduation or transfer and making the most of your FVCC experience.

Transfer Agreements
If you plan on transferring to a four-year college or university after FVCC, you should become familiar with the schools we have partnered with to establish transfer agreements. They are:

  • The University of Montana – Missoula
  • Montana State University – Bozeman
  • Montana State University – Billings
  • Montana State University – Northern
  • Montana Tech of The University of Montana
  • The University of Montana – Western
  • University of Great Falls
  • Carroll College
