Program #11261
5/18/ - 5/24
Glacier's habitats range from eastern prairies to subalpine forest and alpine tundra along the Continental Divide to temperate rainforests, and extensive valley wetlands. Harlequin ducks, American dippers, short eared owls, Lewis' Woodpecker and Gray-crowned Rosy-Finches -- plus grizzlies, mountain goats and pikas -- make it a home. Learn about bird habitats and identification tips while developing bird watching skills. Field trips include both the east and west sides of Glacier National Park. An overnight birding field trip to Charlo introduces the OWL Institute, the National Bison Range, and Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge to look for some of Montana's 15 species of owls along with other raptors and waterfowl.
Elevations range from 3,100' to 7,000'. Walking up to 2 miles per day, getting into and out of college vans. Suitable for beginning to intermediate birders.
