- Christmas Tree Excellence, 2007, Tree and Stocking Winners
- Thank you to our generous sponsors and donors!
Christmas Tree Excellence – Denim and Diamonds, is a community tradition held every other year featuring a gala evening of festive food and music to dance to and two decorated trees to be raffled, one with a Denim theme and one with a Diamonds theme, with amazing getaways, gifts, and prizes. Holiday stockings are auctioned as well, so it’s a great opportunity to do your holiday shopping! What’s more, all these fun activities provide funding to support scholarships at Flathead Valley Community College, helping our students reach their educational goals.
In our first five years, Christmas Tree Excellence was jointly sponsored by the Glacier Orchestra and Chorale and the Flathead Valley Community College Foundation. Having completed our eleventh year, the FVCC Foundation has been sponsoring the event on its own since 2000. In 2004, the FVCC Foundation voted to conduct the event every other year. We're looking forward to an exciting and festive Christmas Tree Excellence 2009 – continuing our eleven year tradition. In 2000, we began partnering with nonprofit community groups to support their efforts.
Christmas Tree Excellence has:
- Raised over $536,795 and netted $303,356.91 from the sale of raffle tickets, sponsorship, and the Gala Benefit and Auction.
- Involved over 375 volunteers from 8 communities -- Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Evergreen, Kalispell, Lakeside, Libby, Eureka, Somers, and Whitefish -- in a community celebration of decorated holiday trees, each with its special theme and prizes.
- Received support from 19 Corporate Tree Sponsors and 773 Ticket Patrons and involved over 500 friends, behind the scenes partners, and business supporters in donating refreshments, prizes, trips, and professional services.
- Sold over 240,704 raffle tickets for a chance to win a holiday tree – each with a special theme decorated by community volunteers.
- Involved over 100 stores, boutiques, and local businesses as Santa’s Helpers with stockings stuffed with wonderful merchandise and gifts.
- The funds raised are working right here in our communities impacting the lives of young people and deserving students through the work of the FVCC Foundation.
At Flathead Valley Community College, funds raised:
- Funded fifty-two Foundation student scholarships to help with tuition and fees at the Kalispell Campus. Over $10,300 has gone to the Lincoln County Campus for scholarships to help incoming students and part-time students.
- Added to the FVCC Foundation's Scholarship Endowment Fund for the future.
- Supported youth programs.
