Shakespeare’s London Tour

Explore Shakespeare’s London while touring the city’s landmarks and historic sites. Participants will visit The Tower of London, Windsor Castle, The Globe Theater, Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the British Museum and more. Two West End Shakespeare performances are also included. Famous London landmarks include Big Ben and Parliament, British Art Gallery and National Museum, Soho, Camden Town, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, many local pubs and much more. Optional excursions are also available to locations such as Stonehenge, Stratford-Upon-Avon, and Canterbury Cathedral.

Program Cost

This 8 day trip will depart from Glacier International Airport (FCA) in Kalispell, Montana, on March 26, 2015 and return April 2, 2015. The cost of the trip is $2,930, which includes the roundtrip airline tickets from Kalispell, Montana, all rooms, tours, day trips, ground transportation, workshops, all breakfasts and dinners except on free days and guiding services by program coordinator Brian Bechtold.

FVCC Course

All participants are required to enroll in Literature 291: Shakespeare’s Plays & Poems (3 credits) during the Spring Semester of 2015. No prerequisite or experience with Shakespeare is necessary. And you do not have to be a full-time student to participate in the trip. Participants can register for this course through the FVCC Registration Office or online when registration begins for Spring Semester 2015. There will be three mandatory Tuesday evening classes prior to departure and one Tuesday evening class upon return (6:00- 8:00 p.m. class time). All four classes are on the FVCC campus.

This course may be used to satisfy Humanities General Education requirements. Course credits are transferable. For those who qualify, financial assistance may be available through the FVCC Financial Aid Office or through your home institution’s financial aid office. Non-degree seeking participants are allowed to enroll in the course by completing an Admission Form as a non-degree seeking student. The course tuition/fee is NOT included in the program cost.

The Leader

Professor of English, Brian Bechtold, will lead the group of participants in the classroom and on the trip. He currently teaches Shakespeare and British literature full-time at FVCC. He has also served on the Board of Trustees and editorial board of the Shakespeare Oxford Society (now the Shakespeare Oxford Fellowship), a national organization, which promotes scholarly research and education into Shakespeare and authorship studies. Bechtold will be making his fourth trip to England with students.
