Audio Production

Media Services can duplicate video tape provided that such copying does not constitute a copyright infringement.  Copies of video course materials are copied in the Center and made available to students enrolled in those courses free of charge.  Faculty may utilize the service free of charge provided that the copying is for instructional and not personal purposes.  Students and the general public may have copies of video tapes made for $3.00 each if a blank tape is supplied, or for $6.00 if the Media Center furnishes the tape.  Video duplication is done in real time (it takes two hours to make copy of a two hour video).   Up to three copies of one tape may be made simultaneously.

Media Services staff often assists advertising students with producing simple soundtracks for radio and TV ads as well as helping humanities/art students produce soundtracks for art/photo/humanities projects.  Please consult with Media staff to see if a project is feasible and check the availability of equipment necessary before starting the project. Video production services are not available to the general public or general student body.  Faculty and staff need to consult with Malinda regarding the availability and feasibility of any productions desired.  Basic assemble editing and audio dubbing capabilities are available to students for special school projects by appointment. Services in the area of production are limited.

Digitizing of audio and video clips for faculty to use in E-College online learning is available, as is conversion of documents to PDF format -- see staff for details.

FVCC has no dedicated 'studio' or set-up for the production of audio.  The Center has the ability to make simple audio soundtracks utilizing low-end microphones and mixers.  The audio-visual software collection includes the complete BBC sound effects library as well as some instrumental production music for backgrounds and soundtracks.

Media Services, in conjunction with Public Information, produces a monthly video production about the college which is shown on the local cable company's public access channel.  Those having news about the college who would like to see a segment produced for this production are welcome to visit with Michael Evans or Malinda Crawford.

Audio Duplication.

Media Services has the ability of making high-speed copies of audio cassette tapes or transferring record albums, reel-to-reel tapes or CDs to cassette tapes or CD, provided that copyright is not being infringed upon (see copyright below).  The service is free to faculty needing support materials for course work.  The service is also free to students needing materials for course work or special projects provided that the student provides the blank tape or CD.  Blank tapes and CDs may be purchased in the college bookstore, or are available for $1.00 each in the Media Center.  The service is available to the general public for a fee which is dependent upon the type of service and the quantity desired.  See Malinda for availability and pricing.
