Student Roles & Responsibilities
- To sign up you need permission from an instructor in the appropriate discipline and from the Internship Coordinator, along with meeting the pre-requisites noted in the catalog.
- Register for the course.
- Attend Internship Orientation to review course syllabus, learn about the internship process, and develop application materials.
- Find a faculty member within your field of study willing to serve as your Internship Instructor.
- Identify potential internship with assistance from the Career Development Office and faculty.
- Apply for and interview with prospective internship sites. If accepted, complete and sign contract. Note: No hours will be counted until a signed contract is in place.
- Complete all course assignments by due dates noted within the course.
- Develop relevant learning objectives in conjunction with instructor and site supervisors, then work to accomplish those objectives and document progress.
- Follow professional standards of conduct, organizational policies and safety standards. Violations of professional ethics, insubordination, unexcused absences, breaches of confidentiality, or failure to turn in assignments on a timely basis are cause for termination, removal from the internship site and will result in an “F” grade.
- Share any concerns with Internship Instructor and/or Internship Office.
- Report any on the job accidents to the Training Site Supervisor immediately; notify FVCC’s business office at (406) 756-3821.
