Getting Started

In order to begin taking classes at FVCC, you must first be admitted to the college.  Once you are admitted, you will be assigned an advisor. Apply Now

If you are new to FVCC, the best way to get started is to see an advisor. An advisor can help you decide which courses are best for your needs and abilities. To schedule an appointment at the Kalispell Campus, call the Counseling Center at (406) 756-3880 or toll free at (800) 313-3822 ext 3880.  You can also call the Lincoln County Campus at (406) 293-2721 or toll free at 1-877-443-5741 to schedule an advising appointment in Libby.

The next step is to take our Compass placement test, if you plan to pursue a degree or certificate. Even if you don’t plan to get a degree or certificate, it’s a good idea to take the test if you plan to enroll in a math or writing class.  Admission to the college does not require you to achieve a certain level of scores on the test.  It is designed to help you identify your level of reading, writing and math skills.  The results will help you and your advisor ensure you are taking the correct classes.

You may find copies of the test schedule for the Kalispell Campus in the printed Schedule of Classes, in the Admissions Office or at the Counseling Center.  You can schedule an appointment to take the test at Lincoln County Campus by calling (406) 293-2721 ext 223 or toll free at 1-877-443-5741.  Testing appointments at Lincoln county Campus are available from 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM Monday through Thursday.

If you plan to enroll in a professional-technical program, you may need to take prerequisite classes. In this case an advisor will meet with you to discuss your placement test scores and determine which classes you will want to take first.

Once you have completed the steps above you are ready to register. After you have completed all of the steps, call the Admissions Office (406) 756-3846 or (800) 313-3822 ext 3846 to see if your file is complete.

Students can register in one of the following ways:

  • In person at either campus
  • By calling the Admissions Office at the Kalispell Campus at (406) 756-3846 or (800) 313-3822 ext 3846 or the Student Services Office at Lincoln County Campus at 1-877-443-5741
