Humanities Division

The Humanities Division at FVCC is composed of Art, English (writing and literature courses), goldsmithing, journalism, languages, music, philosophy, religion, speech communications, and theatre.

The Division offers curricula that meet the needs of:

  • Transfer, degree-seeking students, and/or
  • Those engaged in occupational programs/training, as well as,
  • Providing students with courses in pure appreciation and education.

Humanities explores the "what it means to be human": human actions, ideals, thoughts, traditions, values, beliefs and concerns. As a student participating in humanities coursework, you will engage in readings, critical/analytical thinking, problem-solving, group discussions and various creative endeavors.
