The Rocky Mountains. Flathead Lake. Glacier National Park. The Bob Marshall Wilderness. As a student in the natural resources management program, these are the kind of unparalleled resources that will serve as your classroom and living laboratory.

FVCC’s natural resources management program is designed for students who want to work as technicians in forestry, wildlife, tree nurseries, urban forestry, outdoor recreation, range and many other allied fields.

Our Mission
The mission of the natural resources management program is to provide current and upcoming forest and land managers with the skills they need to effectively manage the production of forest-based goods, as well as recreation, timber, water, range and wildlife resources.

Our Difference
Some of the things that distinguish our program include our location in northwestern Montana and setting in one of the world’s most pristine natural environments. In addition, students benefit from FVCC’s 40-acre experimental forest, nationally-respected instructors, small classes and a heightened emphasis on such technology as Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Our Results
The program leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree and is often used as an ideal starting point to earn a bachelor’s degree in any number of related areas. Graduates of the program typically accept positions with timber management companies; land reclamation companies; city, county and state forest and natural resource agencies; and federal land management agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service, Park Service and Bureau of Land Management.
