Peru Cultural Immersion Experience

"Trip to the Sacred Valley"

July 20-August 9, 2010


FVCC will present its fourth cultural immersion experience in the Sacred Valley of Peru this summer.  The three-week academic adventure will take place in the village of Urubamba outside of Cusco, Peru.

Participating students will have the opportunity to earn up to 15 credits while participating in a number of activities including exploring significant Inca ruins, visiting Indian Artisan markets, sightseeing in the city of Cusco, trekking to Machu Picchu through the Salkantay Mountain region, staying in a local home on Lake Titicaca and touring Lima, the capitol of Peru.

Course Information

FVCC students and individuals not previously enrolled at FVCC are welcome to participate in the program.

  • ANTH 110 Cultural Anthropology (3 cr.) is required to participate.

The following courses are electives:

  • IDS 180 Global Diversity (1 cr.)
  • LANG 121 Spanish I (5 cr.) *
  • LIT 286H80 Comparative Mythology (3cr.) offered online*
  • ART 154F1 of F80 Digital Photography (3 cr.)*

* Course begins June 7.

Space in the program is limited.  The total cost of the trip is $3,100, and tuition and fees for the FVCC courses are not included in the travel fees.

A non-refundable deposit of $1,000 is due to the FVCC Business Office by May 20, 2010, in order to reserve a place in the program.
