GED Testing Information

Things to Know

  • An Appointment for GED Registration and Testing is required.  Call 406-756-3880 or 1-800-313-3822 ext. 3880 in Kalispell or 406-293-2721 in Libby for information and the schedule and appointment
  • FVCC offers free GED preparation classes in both Flathead and Lincoln Counties.
  • GED testing costs $55
  • Required Identification for GED testing includes: current Montana Driver's License or State ID, (or proof of 1 month's residency in MT if ID is not from MT) and Social Security Card(if SSN not on ID)
  • Testers under 19 years of age will need a school withdrawal letter signed by their principal.  Home-schooled students must submit a notarized letter signed by a parent.  Potential testers who are 16 years of age must make an appointment with the GED examiner to determine eligibility for GED testing.
  • GED requires an average standard score of 450 with no scores below 410.
  • Tests are mailed to Helena for processing
  • Test results take approximately three weeks to reach the test center.
  • Results are mailed directly to tester once the entire test battery is completed.

A testing appointment and attendance at testing orientation is required prior to testing day.

Testing Orientation Kalispell: Thursdays 4:00-5:15 p.m.

Testing Orientation Libby: Monday 10:00-11:00 a.m.

At Testing Orientation you will:

  • Complete testing application
  • Pay $55 testing fee
  • Watch 16 minute math video
  • Turn in school documentations, if under 19
  • Present current Montana driver's license or state Id and social security card(if Id is not from Montana, proof of at least one month residency is required).
  • Present official GED scores, if tested since January 1, 2002 at another test center

On testing day, testers must:

  • Present driver's license or state ID and social security card
  • Be on time

Per Test Fees: $13 canidate fee(one time only) plus

  • $7 Mathematics
  • $7 Science
  • $7 Social Studies
  • $7 Language Arts, Reading
  • $14 Language Arts, Writing

*A $10 fee will be charged for missed testing appointments.

Spring GED testing dates for Flathead Valley Community College:

February 5 and 26, March 12 and 26, April 9 and 23, May 7 and 21, and June 4
