Academics

When it comes to the academic experience Flathead Valley Community College offers, the sky’s the limit. And, when you’re in Montana—the Big Sky State—that means something. We promise a learning experience consisting of a comprehensive blend of programs, activities, resources and hands-on learning opportunities that are hard to match.

In the end, you will have gained the kind of preparation that employers, as well as four-year colleges and universities, are looking for…

Programs
Our Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, Certificate of Applied Science, and transfer programs are offered through six academic divisions: Allied Health, Business and Technology, Career and Technical, Humanities, Math and Science and Social Sciences. Further, we offer innovative programs such as Running Start, the Honors Symposium and Senior Programs.

Faculty
One of our instructors helped organize Dr. Martin Luther King’s march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama. One was a consultant for the CBS hit television series NUMB3RS. One was nominated to be Montana’s poet laureate. And all of them choose to be at FVCC because of our mission, our setting, our community, and, above all, our students.

Hands-On Learning
As a student at FVCC, you will spend much of your time in meaningful, real-world settings applying the knowledge you’ve gained in class. Our focus on hands-on learning is exactly the kind of preparation that will set you apart when you graduate. In fact, 62 percent of those taking the national registered nurses exam in a recent year were graduates of associate degree programs. And 65 percent of new healthcare workers received their training at community colleges.
