  • Pledge Tree—April 19-22, Blake Hall foyer—Community members are encouraged to visit the pledge tree to add their own personal pledges to make the earth greener;
  • Film Showings—April 19-22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Blake Hall (room 144), Learning Resource Center (by Library) and Arts and Technology Building (by Theatre Box Office)—The films “Fuel,” “Thirst,” “Addicted to Plastic” and “King Corn” will be shown in rotation in a different building each day (See rotation schedule below.)
  • “Refill Not Landfill” Information Table sponsored the FVCC Recycling Club—April 19 and 20, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Blake Hall foyer-- Facts will be available on the issues surrounding the use of plastic water bottles; FVCC students, employees and community members can register to win one of two FVCC stainless steel water bottles; coupons for 30 percent off of the water bottles at the FVCC Bookstore also will be available.
  • Clean Up Day—April 21, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.—FVCC students and employees and community members are invited to help clean up the bike trail between Grandview Drive and Hutton Ranch Plaza; safety vests, gloves and trash bags will be available to pick up in or near Blake Hall on the day of the event;
  • Carbon Footprint—April 21 and 22, Blake Hall, Learning Resource Center and Arts and Technology Building—Community members are welcome to learn about their carbon footprints;
  • Presentation, “Our Built Environment and Sustainability:  What You and We Can Do Together Now”—April 22, noon, Arts and Technology Building Large Community Meeting Room—Presentation by Chad Phillip from Phillips Architecture and Planning, Inc., will follow with a question and answer session;
    • Topics Covered:  
      • What is sustainability?
      • Who holds the key in a consumer based economy?
      • Alternative building systems and heating and cooling systems that support the health of the users and our environment
      • What can be done with existing homes to further their efficiency and health for both the homeowners and the environment
  • Brat Fry—April 22, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Arts and Technology Building entrance—Proceeds will benefit the TRIO scholarship fund; and
  • Presentation, “Towel and Tissue:  What is the Best Way to Go Green?”—April 22, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Arts and Technology Building Large Community Meeting Room—Lecture by Kent S. Lyman, District Sales Manager, Wausau Paper Bay West

      • Who and What is Green Seal Inc?
      • What is Green Washing?
      • The difference between EPA, and certifying organizations
      • Does your purchase matter?
